  1. Logon to an Active Directory Domain Controller.

  2. Open the Active Directory Administrative Console console.

  3. On the left hand side, navigate to your local domain.

  4. Select into the System container

  5. Select into the Password Settings Container container

  6. In the Password Settings Container, right-click and press New > Password Settings

  7. Enter a name for your password policy and set a precedence level between 1 and 99. If a user has two policies applied to their account, the policy with the lower precedence number will be active.

  8. Configure the policy options to your requirements.

  9. Under Directly Applies To, select Add… and then enter the name of the security group(s) you want to apply this policy to.

  10. Select OK to save and apply the policy.

If you want to create more than one policy, repeat steps 6 to 10.
